What if an essential part of ourselves was simply waiting to be heard? Reconnecting with your inner child means reopening a space of sensitivity, spontaneity and creativity that is often set aside in adulthood. A path towards more emotional healing, more inner freedom… and lasting calm.
The inner child: an emotional compass
The concept of the inner child is used in psychology and in many personal development journeys. It offers a new way of looking at what runs through us each day. Behind a sharp reaction, a frustration or a surge of joy lies a trace of our emotional history, of our old wounds.
This "little me" within us is the part that lived through the first wounds, the raw emotions, the first moments of wonder. It is often very present… without our being fully aware of it.
And yet it shapes our behaviours, our relationships and our emotional reactions.
Reconnecting with this part of yourself is a chance to understand where certain automatic patterns come from, and to tend to your emotional wounds with fresh eyes. This doesn't mean regressing, but healing your past so you can better live your present.
Rediscovering your spontaneity… without leaving the adult behind
Growing up means learning to self-regulate. But this process can sometimes cut us off from our creativity, our natural confidence, or our ability to feel with intensity.
We learned to "put a lid" on certain emotions in order to fit in, we adopted "appropriate" behaviours to match what others expected of us, and we often, without realising it, set aside a part of ourselves that nonetheless calls out for attention.
Meeting your inner child means bringing a little playfulness, freedom and presence back into what has become rigid. It also means offering a kind gaze to the fragile, sensitive, sometimes wounded parts of yourself, which are always alive.
RAIN: a mindfulness practice to find calm
The RAIN method, drawn from mindfulness meditation, is a simple therapeutic practice for reconnecting with your inner world. It lets you recognise your suppressed emotions, make room for them, and release them without judgement:
R for Recognise what is there (emotion, sensation, memory, wound).
A for Allow this experience with kindness.
I for Investigate: what is this reaction telling me? What past situation does it take me back to?
N for Non-identification: I am not this emotion, I can observe it and move through it.
By applying RAIN in everyday life, you learn to be in dialogue with your inner child, to listen to it without letting it take over, and to heal step by step what remains active within you.
A three-step process: identify, welcome, repair
The "The inner child" program, available in the app, supports this path of inner healing through three main steps:
- Identifying and recognising your inner child: its basic needs, its recurring emotions, its impulses.
- Welcoming what it expresses, with compassion and without judgement.
- Reparenting: becoming an adult able to reassure it, to set healthy boundaries, and to love it gently.
This process doesn't replace therapy; it offers a space for deep listening. It is emotional work, sometimes demanding and deeply freeing, that helps strengthen your self-esteem and your relationship with yourself.
