fter working in the world of finance, Axel felt it was time for a career change.  He gained a Master’s degree in Social Work from Hunter College, then for 10 years managed a social work team in Paris focusing on the problems of the elderly. He has since undertaken training with the Center for Mindfulness, and is a member of the Association for the Development of Mindfulness, offering MBSR courses in Paris and in Normandy, together with regular retreats. He was also one of the meditation teachers selected by INSERM to take part in the Silver Santé Study in Caen, on the comparative effects of learning English and meditation on the over 65s. Since 2020, he has participated in the activities of the Mindfulness Solidaire association to help teach emotional intelligence to those faced with particularly challenging situations (prisoners, addicts and those in other vulnerable situations). He is especially interested in the themes of forgiveness, apology and the transformation of emotional conflicts.
